Child Psychotherapy

In child psychotherapy, the process always begins with a psychodiagnostic examination. This assessment helps determine whether therapy is needed and identifies the most suitable methodology for addressing the child’s symptoms.

When you entrust your child to me for a psychological evaluation, we will follow a structured process. First, we begin with an initial interview with the parents to gather background information and understand the context. This is followed by a detailed medical and developmental history, which helps create a complete picture of the child’s overall well-being. Afterward, I conduct a psychological examination with the child over the course of 3 to 4 sessions, during which I gain further insight into their emotional and psychological state.

Following the examination, we have a feedback session where I share the diagnostic results and provide tailored recommendations for treatment. These recommendations may include educational counseling, parent consultations, individual therapy for the child, or occasionally group therapy. In some cases, family therapy may be necessary, and I can recommend an additional specialist to support this process.

I work with children aged 4 to 18 and provide both diagnostic and therapeutic services. Sometimes, the diagnostic process may require the involvement of additional specialists. As each child’s development follows an individual path, it is often beneficial to assess various areas to create an accurate and comprehensive understanding of their needs. These assessments may include motor development, IQ, and, in some cases, sensory evaluations. If conditions such as ADHD, ASD, or other psychiatric disorders are suspected, I may recommend a child psychiatric examination. If needed, I will refer you to trusted specialists.

If the diagnostic phase reveals the need for further therapeutic support, I offer ongoing treatment within my practice, depending on availability.

Throughout my 15+ years of experience, I have had the privilege of working with many children across a wide range of psychological challenges. Some of the conditions I have treated include childhood anxiety disorders (such as separation anxiety, social anxiety, and performance anxiety), childhood depression, panic disorder, selective mutism, enuresis (bedwetting), and secondary emotional symptoms of ADHD and ASD. I have also worked with children exhibiting behavioral disorders. However, psychotherapy for childhood obsessive-compulsive disorder is not within my professional scope.
